The Story

It wasn’t a dark and stormy night.

It should have been, but that’s the weather for you. For every mad scientist who’s had a convenient thunderstorm just on the night his Great Work is finished and lying on the slab, there have been dozens who’ve sat around aimlessly under the peaceful stars while Igor clocks up the overtime.

(From “Good Omens” by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman)

And yes, on that dreamy summer morning all those many moons ago when ShiverWriggle first launched herself upon the world, the sun was indeed shining. There may even have been rabbits skipping outside and butterflies singing. Or something.

Welcome to ShiverWriggle: the home of wayward thoughts and meaningful creations. Come in and know us better man (or woman, naturally). Take a few moments to meet the ShiverWriggle Folk and ponder the writings on offer. Relax and let yourself get lost in an alternative world.

ShiverWriggle starting flaunting her wares on the 29th June 2009. ‘So recent?!’ I hear you cry. Yes, my friends. All the delights available at your fingertips (via your trusty mouse or other such navigational tool) have all been added in the last two years. This is in itself a testament to how well ShiverWriggle has done since those early days. And it’s a sign of things to come.

We’ve split the site into two major sections. ShiverWriggle Creates deals with original creative writing (see what we did there?); and ShiverWriggle Thinks is where you’ll find our non-fiction musings. In addition to these sections, ShiverWriggle Visuals has recently been launched to provide ShiverWrigglers with delights of a more visual nature, and there are plans to develop ShiverWriggle Publishes and ShiverWriggle Sounds to offer up even more delicious morsels for consideration.

Back in late June 2009, when ShiverWriggle first graced the jungle that is the World Wide Web with her presence, the idea was that new material would be added each week. It delights us (so much does) that we’re more than exceeding this, more often than not we upload new material several times a week.

The new website structure is now in place, so we can start working on the new developments which have until now only been buried in our heads and scribbled hastily (but enthusiastically) on scraps of parchment. You know we love the phrase so, just to repeat what has been our unofficial motto since ShiverWriggle’s early days: watch this space. We haven’t disappointed so far, have we?

At present ShiverWriggle is concentrating on the seductive power of the written word and now, as from her second anniversary, delights of a more pictorial nature. However, being the voracious individual she is, we suspect it may not be too long before she’s tempted by other media forms. In fact plans are already afoot. In any case we’d love to see you again, so call back soon.

And, to sign off, here’s our official motto (or at least the only one we can agree on at present): exciting times!
