Winter Storm

The moment of dawn, stars fallen
Darkest light, shivers the soul,
Before the cockerel, comes silence.
I await, winter storm,
I await, frozen, torn.

And so time is raging,
Draining through my wound
Pouring along with tears
My mask is askance;
My mask but happenstance.

Begins the end, downward
I try to see into future, into light
Nothing visible through the dark
But here, comes the dawn
But here! comes the dawn.

And still I am blind,
I am crippled, unkind
I am damaged, out of mind
Shredded are emotions
Rehearsed through darkness:

Night after night
Here again, comes a light
Bringing day, but no joy
Bringing sadness, waking pain.
Tattered soul, darkest shame.
